“ABC of WAR” appears as a book and expected to be presented at Leipziger Buchmesse in February 2025

Collaborative photo project
2023 — ongoing

Participants: Yehor Dudnichenko (Donetzk, 17),  Nikol Tsybukh (Kharkiv, 13), Oliviia (Kyiv, 16), Vladyslava Pidhrebia (Zalishchyky, 16), Yaroslav Mindra (Odesa, 15), Alisa Lopatina (Kharkiv, 13), Arina Kliuchkevych (Kharkiv, 13), Yuriy Sereda (Lviv, 16)

Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, over 1 million refugees have been received by Germany, including around 300 thousand minors. The project participants communicate their experiences fleeing and starting anew, and also respond to the political debate about the war here. During the first exhibition they addressed the wider school community: school students, teachers, parents and guests.

The second exhibition at the Town Hall was directed at the German society on the whole. It was curated to keep public on the move through the hallways, while select guests were invited to share spontaneous responses to questions about their reactions to the photos.

The conceptual frame for the images is a German alphabet. All of the participants are writing texts, composing images, arranging setups, photographing and selecting final images.

The project is ongoing and brings new angles, reflections and emotions, as the invasion continues.
